I cast on 86 sts and bound off 8 sts for the button tab instead of 12.

I worked 7 rows of rib and bound off for the button tab on the 8th row (1.5” long). I started with a WS row so the nice side of the long-tail cast on would be visible on the RS of the hat.

For the crown shaping I used stitch markers to divide the hat into 3 sections of 26 sts.

I used a 1 1/8” button from Joann Fabrics.

I used a 4” diameter faux fur pom-pom from Joann Fabrics.
