Notes

I knit the rib for 3” instead of 4” because I was worried about running out of yarn.

I started the top decreases when the mitten measured 9.5” long (46 rnds).

I started the thumb decreases at 2.5” (18 rnds).

I had a lot of trouble getting the thrums to look right. The technique that worked for me was to wrap the yarn around the needle first and then fold the roving over the needle and pull it through so that the roving is to the left of the yarn.

I didn’t fold the roving double and instead used it single ply.

I bought two 0.5 oz bags of wool roving at Hobby Lobby. I used about 0.9 oz.

Measurements:

  • Hand Circumference: 8.5”
  • Total Length: 11”
  • Hand Length: 8”
  • Cuff Length: 3”
  • Thumb: 3.5” circumference, 2.75” long

Total Cost: $8.47

  • Yarn: $6.38
  • Roving: $2.09
