I used bulky yarn instead of worsted weight yarn because less stitches and less rows = the same result, so why not?

-Cast on 24 stitches for an 8” wide cowl
-Worked in garter stitch for 26”
-Increased to 40 stitches for basket weave
-Worked basket weave for 21” for a 47” long cowl
-Decreased down to 24 stitches and BO

This cowl knit up very quickly. Even the cabled part didn’t take very long.

This is a good length for a cowl; it is snug around your neck to keep it nice and warm without being too tight.

I didn’t bother with the provisional cast on and three needle bind off because I was feeling lazy and you can’t see the seam anyway.

About halfway through the basket weave section I started cabling without a cable needle with the help of this video.
