Notes

With a nod of appreciation to Conicuts on Ravelry for her ingenius label creations, I tried making some of my own paper labels on my printer to grace my handknitted and crocheted washcloths.

Since they’ll be gifts, I wanted a way to make them more special-looking, and giving them paper labels seemed the way to go.
(Thanks Connie! I wish I’d thought of this idea. It’s brilliant. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”)

Addendum 08/18/11: (I should have been voted “Most Likely to Exceed” in high school. LOL)
As with everything else I do, I went overboard(!) and have made waaay too many pages of labels! If anyone out there wants some of my extras, just drop me a PM here on Rav. I’ll send you a few pages. (Some may be what I’d call “seconds” and not first quality, but they’ll still be nice.) Please indicate preferred color range and “knit” or “crochet” or both. And the size!
____I’ve made label pages in both 8½“W x 11”L (a shorter label with the page in a vertical orientation) and in 11”W x 8½L” (a longer label with the page in a horizontal orientation).
____If you’re not sure which size label you will need, take a plain sheet of 8½“x11” paper and cut a 1½” wide strip from it across the short (8½“) end--THEN--with a second sheet of paper, cut a 1½” wide strip from it across the long (11”) side. You should have two strips of paper, one of which is 8½“L x1½”W and the other which is 11”L x1½“W.
____Fold your washcloth in thirds and then in half (or which ever way you find easiest) and wrap each strip around the washcloth to gauge the length of the label you will need. (The 8½” long size may be too short for thicker, larger cloths, and the 11” long size may be too long for thinner, smaller cloths, but the longer size label can be cut shorter or just wrapped around itself and the overlapping edge taped together.)

I can’t promise to have exactly what you may prefer, but I’ll do my best, and again, I’m happy to share!
(Sorry, but I didn’t make any that say “Dishcloths.”)
