Tunisian crochet!

I actually learned to knit just to make this blanket, but my persistent itch to be different kicked in and I went with Tunisian crochet instead.

Worsted weight yarn (Vanna’s Choice), L/8mm hook, I went with 29 stitches to compensate for gauge.

18 Jan. 2014 - I wanted to join the mitered squares as I went but never saw a pattern for this with tunisian squares that keeps them all lined up instead of staggered. So I’m improvising. The first row of them was a little fiddly, but now I’ve gotten the hang of it. As I work through a stripe of squares I’m actually leaving the common color connected through all 5 squares. Fewer ends to weave!

21 Jan. 2014 - Finished quadrant #1
Because I’m using thicker yarn and tunisian crochet instead of garter knit, the stripes are a little thicker and I don’t know if the gradient is going to look as smooth. But I’m kinda in love with how the backside of this project is looking.

26 Jan. 2014 - Finished quadrant #2

2 Feb. 2014 - Finished quadrant #3

3 Feb. 2014 - Ran out of the “antique rose” color with three squares left to go. I didn’t start with a full skein of it. Looks like a full skein is plenty to make this pattern at this gauge, though.

5 Mar. 2014 - Finished quadrant #4

7 Jun. 2015 - I let this languish for over a year in my closet because I hate weaving ends so much. However I did mange to weave most of the ends yesterday, stitch the quadrants together, and begin I’m working on the edging.

8 Nov. 2015 - It is finally complete!
