Wiesenkerbel in Kunststricken: Schöne alte Blütenmuster is used as an insertion in a teacloth.

The directions say to cast on 70 per side (two repeats), but a repeat is 34 st. (2 in the center, plus 32 for the hex mesh right of the bold line).

15 Jan. 2013. This thing is done, and, well. I have no idea how to block it to match the teeny photo in the booklet. I can’t see how to get the leaves to match at all.

Since I’ve knitted it twice (three times if you count both repeats in the attempt at in the round), I’m pretty sure I followed the chart correctly. I’m just not sure what’s going on between the chart and the photo.

Okay, now that I’ve had time to step back for a while, I guess it is pretty on its own.

14 Jan 2013: Okay! My in-the-round attempt has been declared a FAIL and frogged, and I have started over knitting a single repeat flat, with the section to the right of the bold line cut in half and used on either side of the flower.

I thought the pattern would be pretty repeated as a doily.

It is pretty easy to modify so far: I have ignored the hex mesh section of the graph at the beginning, to the right of the bold line on the chart.

Tried three repeats (cast on 6) and it was much too ruffly for me, so I ripped and started over with a 4-stitch (two repeat) center.

Ignoring the hex mesh to the right of the bold line worked well up until the leaf tips should start to separate.

Row 27, added a YO at the start and end of this row, with the idea of adding back one hex mesh to separate the leaves. I really should have done this back on Row 19 but don't want to rip back that far.
