Notes

I chose to knit w/ 3mm needles bc I’m a loose knitter. The pattern wanted 22st/4inches and I swatched at 23 so I thought it’d be okay.

I made a few mistakes (for examples skipping from a the 6 stitches short row section to the 8 stitches increment) but they’re mostly inconsequential,I think.

Also I chose to close the short-rows holes because I’m picky about holes in my knitting - some I like and some I really don’t; these were of the no-no variety. :)

Since I was using a laceweight yarn for the stockinette folds, the original finishing in the pattern was not going to look nice (I tried it). I made a few attempts before I came up with what I eventually did, which is:

  • a stockinette fold w/ only 6 rows instead of 8, followed by
  • an i-cord edging with the fingering yarn in the main color (3 stitches). I really do like the look of it, though I think maybe the fold could have been 7 or 8 rows after all. Then again, having a smaller, different stockinette fold for the edging is not bad either.

Now I’m hoping it will grow after a wash, and that the silk will do its floppy drape thing, because so far it is rather small! I will wear it anyway, small of big, but I kind of was hoping for something a little closer in size to what others made.

I think I’ll probably knit this again (and again, possibly), and use this pattern as an inspiration for other similar-looking things (garments, hat, etc); I love the look of it and I have plenty ideas.

Thank you Stephen for another fun pattern!
