Notes

Drops violet brushed alpaca silk held double with plotulopi for the main pattern.

60 sts for cuff = too floppy and big. Wound up CO 48 for cuffs. Increased 4 after ribbing. K 2 rows. Increased 2. Increased normally after that until 76 sts.

01-27-2022

Total yarn for 2 sleeves, 48cm, cuff to top just before joining = 75g (3/4 plate).

Hem to underarm sts = 43cm. (Joined 2nd plate at 39cm = 1 plate/100g)

Body circumference unblocked (including 4 steek sts) = 108cm

01-28-2022

An extra inch knit in MC before starting pattern.

Needle size- Struggled with first 3 rows of pattern with yarns held double so 4th row changed to one sz 8 and one sz 7. 5th row both sz 8.

To save hassle- using a little matching Shetland handspun for grafting under arms.

01-29-2022

For some reason, I had trouble tracking how many stitches to knit after each decrease and before the next one. Finally blacked out the stitch immediately following the decrease symbol so I knew that one had been ‘used up’ already. Problem solved.

After chart, +2 extra rows.
After all decrease rows, +1 extra row.

Grafting underarms with the live sts is the way to go. Looks 100% better than sewing.

After blocking (pre-steek cutting), the alpaca fuzzed up nicely. The pattern is very discreet with the dark purple and black plotulopi. Perfect.

01-30-2022

Repurposed button-down thin flannel pyjama shirt. 6 buttons. Dyed purple. Fabric for facing strips on front band.

01-31-2022

Button bands are giving me fits. Spent 2 hours finishing and then cut/ripped them out again. Considering leaving it as an open cardigan…

02-01-2022

Super cute sweater hanging up but not a fan of the way it fits me. It’s a sweater that actually should fit and isn’t oversized- maybe that’s the issue.

Light and surprisingly warm but scritchy.

UPDATE: It’s just that little bit too small, thus the weird fit. My fault and not the sweater itself, poor thing.
