Pulled it out of the closet. Unwrapped and looked at it. Decided I DO want to finish it then…wrapped it up and put it back in the closet…

10-27-2012: Pulled this out several times the last month and will start working on it again soon. Realized I made a mistake on one of the cables but whatever- haha! Definitely NOT going back and reknitting all of that! This will probably be a 4 year project but since cable knits never go out of style, it’s ok! ;o)

12-24-2010: Taking a break from Mette Handberg’s ‘Autumn’ and finally picked up St. Brigid again. Always forget how much I love these crispy cables until I work on them after a long absence!

02-23-2010: Switched to a ‘modified’ drop shoulder (Ann Budd). Cast off 6 stitches at beginning of each armhole after 5 full repeats, hoping to eliminate some bulk.

08-12-09: Two full repeats and this is not nearly as confusing as I thought it might be- although, I still have a few odd spots that I’m hoping will even out with blocking. Did a purl row after the cast-on to, hopefully, make adding a hem easier (won’t worry about what kind ‘til later). Forcing myself to complete one round of Shipwreck (my punishment) each day before picking up St. Brigid (my reward). Why, oh WHY, did I think choosing a pattern with thousands of tiny beads for my first shawl project would be FUN???

08-07-09: After numerous hiccups this gal is up and running. The yarn is wonderful- the cables are practically jumping off the fabric and so fun to knit! Also, I can tell by looking at the gorgeous pictures here on Ravelry that the gauge on mine isn’t nearly as tight as many of the other St. Brigids out there… but I know I wouldn’t wear a sweater that could stand up and dance a jig all on its own so I am pleased with this fabric that has a little more ‘give’.

Note: It helps to CLEARLY mark the ‘blank’ or ‘no stitch’ boxes on the pattern charts before you start. Otherwise you may wind up knitting the same part 2 1/3 times over before figuring out why you’re short a handful of stitches at the end of the row…ugh.

Anti-fringe so started with a seed stitch border but don’t care for the way it looks- ripping back and starting again with the 2x2 twisted rib hem.

Nope, twisted rib didn’t look right to me (must be doing it wrong) so I’ll just leave off the hem for now and decide on that later. Maybe an attached I-cord?
