3-strand helix stripe, using two strands of the Knitters Nightmare (a self-striping in coral, gold and green) and one of the Soft Like Kittens (semi-solid green, similar to the one in the stripe), with SLK also used for the heel, toe and cuff.

One strand of the KN was used straight from the ball in colour order, and for the other I pulled lengths off the other end, cutting in different parts of the stripe sequence and sometimes reversing direction, for a less uniform effect. I made sure I never had the green colour in both KN strands at once, to avoid solid green areas.

I like the idea of self-striping yarns but they tend not to work for me in practice - I don’t like how the stripes narrow when the sock gets wider, and my feet won’t fit the socks unless the foot gets wider no matter what heel I’m using! So this let me still have stripes, but in a more casual, random way.
