I made these socks for my mum for Christmas. She was very pleased with them :)

My only modification was to increase the size slightly. I added two extra stitches to each stockinette section (i.e. 8 extra stitches around) and increased the size of the heel flap, gussets and so on proportionally. Otherwise I knit to pattern and really love the result.

One note: There is an error in the book in the instructions for the main cable. It’s fairly obvious what you need to do to fix it, just one extra cable cross, and if you look at the other projects in Ravelry some people have written it out.
