The KN yarn is a 3-colour self-striping: light leaf green, mustard yellow and orange-red.

The SLK yarn (not really Soft Like Kittens, since I’m not dyeing any more, but it’s that base yarn!) is a 5-colour self-striping: grapefruit pink, berry red, grass green, medium violet and turquoise.

I also dyed a berry red solid mini-skein for the cuff, heel and toe.

I planned everything so that five SLK stripes happen in roughly the same space as four KN stripes. That means the stripes on each yarn are different lengths, so the changes will happen at different rates and the whole colour repeat is a different length so the same two colours won’t line up very often.

Other than that - which was brain work in the preparation, not in the knitting! - it’s all very plain :)

• Spiral toe increasing to 66st
• Plain stockinette with helix stripe

One trick I tried was threading my waste yarn through two stitches less than the heel width on either side, rather than going all the way across the heel area. When I picked up I grabbed those last two still-connected stitches on either side. No holes!
