Check the saved story in my Instagram profile (same username, annettle) for some videos on how I selected and arranged the scraps for these socks :) I did end up switching some of them around and adding in a little more as I went, all’s fair game in scrappy sock construction.

As well as the yarns listed above I used a variety of small scrap amounts, some leftovers and some tests from my dyeing days.

The main gist of the sock is:

• Spiral toe up to 64st
• Stockinette in a helix stripe using two yarns
• Small gusset under foot, increasing to 74st
• Afterthought heel
• Decreases above heel, down to 66st
• Lots of 2x1 ribbing on the leg
• EZ sewn bind off

I changed my mind about the heel and toe colour after the first sock (hence them being green in the early photos), so I did the second sock with a provisional cast-on and waste yarn for the heel while I was waiting on my order of grey yarn to arrive. Then I knit two toes, grafted them on, and knit the afterthought heels (treating the first heel like a biiiiiig ol’ chunk of waste yarn).
