Notes

2015: Frogged to recover the yarn for another project. I never ended up wearing this, the fit was just -off- and the colour wasn’t quite for me.

16 August: Finished! With short sleeves, because even though we’re in “mid-winter” right now it’s too hot to wear most of my knitwear - I figured this will make it wearable for longer. And no buttons, because when do I ever button a cardigan? (Very rarely.)

The shoulder/yoke/sleeve fit is not perfect, I just couldn’t get the garter edging of the yoke to stretch enough to lie properly. Otherwise it’s fine.

10 August: The body is done. I’m still not sure about the yoke and shoulder fit so I’m blocking it gently to see how everything lies before I move on with the sleeves.

3 August: This is proceeding slooooooowly. I’m still only halfway between separating the arms and the hem! But I tried it on last night and it’s starting to look cute. Some areas are very puckered and ruffled but others in the KAL thread are reporting the same thing and apparently it turns out OK in the end!

I’m ignoring the waist shaping as written and making an A-line to my measurements.

Pre-project notes:

Swatched on US 5:
21 x 28 st/4” before blocking
19.5 x 28 st/4” after blocking

Swatched again, knitting on US 3 and purling on US 4:
21.5 x 30 st/4” before blocking
21 x 30 st/4” after blocking

I’m going with the smaller needles, still not exactly on gauge (esp. the rows!) but I’ll choose my size and adjust as necessary with that difference in mind.

I’m going to make a cardigan version, which is beyond simple with this pattern.

I also plan to run the lace and garter panels down the centre back, as well as the centre front, since I find breaking up a large field of plain stockinette is almost always a more flattering option. We’ll see how it goes, watch this space ;)
