I made this hat for my mum’s birthday.

I knit all of this hat twice, and the ribbing and crown three times - no fault of the pattern though! After the first hat was completed it looked a little loose and floppy all over, so I frogged it and re-knit on smaller needles. Then I decided I wanted extra length, so I frogged the crown and knit that part again with more space between the decrease rows. THEN I decided my cast-on and ribbing wasn’t neat enough, so I knitted that part again and grafted it on.

I started with 96 stitches, and the version I’m finally happy with uses a German twisted cast-on, (k1tbl, p1) twisted ribbing and a vikkel braid.
