This was my first time following a pattern from a chart so I had someone on Reddit translate it into written text for me.: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FGOnHAgDCU0WJs53G...

After a bit though, I was able to follow the chart as well. So this blanket can be good practice for you if you’re like me and haven’t learned how to read charts yet!

I personally did not want the selvedge edge, so I omitted that. I also added a 4 seed-stitch border to the entire blanket. You can omit these changes in your own pattern, but for my alterations I cast on 108 stitches.

(BTW, I printed this off in landscape, and it was about 6 pages two-sided. I know thats a lot more cumbersome than a chart, but since I am still a novice knitter, it is easier for me to follow text at times than to have to think about what I’m reading on a chart.)

This has been very easy and relatively quick knit. The 4x1 cable back is giving me a bit of trouble crossing the one pearl stitch behind 4 knit stitches though. Overall however, I hope to get it done by the middle of next week!

Just finished weaving in my ends and finished this crazy beautiful blanket at the eleventh hour. Wedding is Sunday and we leave to drive down tomorrow. The bride’s colors are teal and gold and this blanket matches our bridesmaid dresses perfectly!

I repeated the pattern about two and a half times. Each skein of my yarn lasted about 10-11 rows. It ended up coming out to ~53x48 inches more or less. I won’t be blocking it (don’t have the time or space to block out something this large!)

I took pictures of the front and back (right and wrong side) for those wondering what the other side looks like.

The pictures are of the blanket on my queen size bed, for size reference.

The yarn is very soft and cozy. Snuggle worthy for sure. It is pretty fuzzy though and I’ve had to go over it several times with a lint roller. This is a HEAVY blanket. Towards the end my Knitter’s Pride Basix circulars started to come undone at the cord and needle base. The blanket is just that heavy in this yarn. Gorilla glued them back together as many times as I needed to just to get it done!

Overall I am super excited and proud to give this away as a gift. I feel like it really expresses just how special my friends are who are getting married and I know they’ll appreciate it. It’s a stunning blanket and I will ABSOLUTELY be making another one. Hard to beat something so beautiful that also knits up so freaking fast!

Michael’s had a large selection of their Christmas ribbon and other items on sale for 50% off. Since the bride’s colors were teal and gold, I was able to purchase a gold basket and gold ribbon to make a bow at half the price and it looked great against the teal blanket.

I also printed off these free gift tags on card stock from this website: http://jordanapaige.com/blog/2013/05/free-gift-tag-printa...
