Notes

2 May
Wound the yarn for these tonight. The colors are so pretty!

I’m not sure which size I should make. A typical sock for me seems to be 64 sts with a US1. But this is colorwork so it’ll be tighter……….

3 May
So I’ve decided to go down a needle size for everything since I have narrow feet. Used a US1 on the toe and switched to a US1.5 for the colorwork.

My stitches are crazy loose and messy. I hope the miracle of blocking helps that (once we get to that point).

4 May
The size adjustment worked! I just turned the heel on the first sock and it is fitting great! I didn’t even have to add a gusset in. Very exciting! (I think the looseness from my messy stitches makes the fit work since it keeps the fabric from being too inflexible.)

8 May
The first sock is through one repeat after the heel; the second sock is half way through the third of four repeats on the foot. After I get the second sock caught up to the first one, I’m going to switch to US2 for the rest of the leg.

12 May
First sock is almost done!

To help with fit, I knit after the heel thusly:
One pattern repeat with US1.5
Switched to US2 and repeated the chart twice
Knit the first row of the chart again but only with the tops of the previously knit sheep, not the legs of new sheep
Knit one round of plain knitting in the MC.

To help keep some flexibility in the cuff, I’m going to do 15 rnds of single color 2/2 ribbing in US1.5.

13 May
Blocking!
(I probably would have been fine with the ribbing done in US1 but it’s fine with US1.5).

Very happy with these!
