Notes

Trying out brioche to see if it is something I can see doing a scrap quilt out of.

My first square went well and brioche seems a lot less intimidating with this pattern which really gives great step-by-step instructions. I did the first square with US5 and it seems like it might be a little loose/sloppy, so I’m going to try it again with smaller needles.

Made more squares with US4, US3, and US2.5.
US5 used 3.5g
US4 used 3.2g
US3 used 3.0g
US2.5 used 2.9g

Decided on a US2.5. But now that I’m knitting more squares, I’m wondering how a US2 would have gone. Oh well. I think my end result is still going to be very cool. Though I’m sure it will take me ages to get there. Hopefully not as long as it could though because I’m really enjoying making the squares. It’s total potato chip knitting.

Must remember to keep my icord loose. Things sit better then.

A word on the pattern. I’ve never done brioche but this pattern is so thorough that I’m not struggling at all. At times it can almost be too detailed but I do like that it has one page with the main body so when I’m comfortable with a type of square, I can mostly hang out on that one page. I do wish that page also had some reference/mention of the numbers and decrease for the icord edging and zigzag set up on the same page for minimal flipping. But really, since there are so many types of squares, this pattern is more a booklet of patterns than a single pattern so I’m pretty impressed. Two thumbs up!

Okay, sizing. It is currently 6x6 and I think 15x30 might be the ideal size. That’s 450 squares. I have 36. This is gonna take a while.
