I finished my last pair of socks and had nothing to knit on through the second half of watching a movie (Galaxy Quest - always a fun one) so as soon as the movie was over, I caked the yarn and cast on before watching anything else.
Mostly I decided to make these because I am jealous of the husband’s snazzy felted slippers. I want some for myself!

Both slippers finished. I had 5 grams leftover from my two skeins. Quite pleased that I had enough, though. I didn’t think I would and I had already mentally prepared to have contrasting toes.
Tomorrow I felt!

Initially, I wasn’t going to do the cuffs; they are cute but unnecessary for me. But I had a variegated blue/purple worsted that I thought might go well with the pink/red/purple so I’m giving it a go while I felt.
It only took resetting the wash cycle twice on my washing machine and now they are felted to the right size. Whoo!
…
I got a little less than half way through the cuff and decided to frog them. The slippers are super cool without it and I think the contrasting cuff might make them a bit obnoxious.
So now I just need to wait for them to dry! And then shave them.
Pattern Notes:
While the slippers this pattern makes are super cute, the pattern can be a little… awkward. I think it wasn’t tech edited for all sizes.
Maybe I’m reading the pattern wrong, but it seems like the directions with the short rows on the foot are not centered and would probably make a left slipper. But as there are no directions for a right slipper, I think the short rows should be centered on the top of the slipper. I’ve done this for all the slippers I’ve made with this pattern (7 pair so far) by moving the marker for the start of round to the left and it has worked well.
Also, the cuff directions are missing a size-related number on the buttonhole section. Pretty sure it should read “Work even for 8 (8, 8, 10, 10, 12, 12) rows.”

I have a hole! Noooo! So I knit up and felted a little square in another yarn (with a US6) and (messily) sewed it on to the weak spots of my slippers. Hopefully I’ll get another year our if them now!

I had tried multiple ways to fix the holes that developed but either they didn’t last long (the felted patches above) or didn’t work (I cut some patches from old slippers but they turned out too thick to comfortably walk on) so these have sat unused in my closet. Right around the time I started trying to talk myself into throwing them out, I discovered needle felting. I used it to fix some other slippers that were getting thin, and then I realized. I COULD USE NEEDLE FELTING TO FIX THESE BELOVED SLIPPERS!
So I did.
