I started this afghan around 2005. I got 4 out of 6 panels through it and just… stopped. Not just this afghan but crocheting in general. But now, I’m picking it up again - crocheting, that is - and, since I still like this pattern, I hope to finish this afghan soon.

Now I remember perhaps why I put this project down. The last two rows on each panel side are tedious. One is all fp trebles and the last is alternating ch-10 and ch-15 loops. OMG. It’s the row that never ends.

I’ve got it all together and just have to finish it off. Instead of doing fringe, I’m going to do a border on the top and bottom. I dislike fringe. I didn’t do the 6th panel because I really felt like that would make this afghan too large and too heavy. It’s already pretty weighty.

I needed an alternative to the fringe so I wanted to do a border on the top and bottom but it took a few false starts before I found one that works. So hdc across the top (with dc in a few spots to even out dips), then two rows of alternating dc and fpdc. Now I just need to do it on the bottom where all the lacing needs tied off. Sigh.

Finally picked it up to finish off the last side of the border so now this is done! Only problem: Texas is much too warm 99% of the year for an afghan this heavy. What to do with it now?
