Notes

Had the idea that I wanted to use up some cotton thread but didn’t want to knit a doily. This is the perfect solution and I love how it is working up.

Red and Cream:
Probably could have used a larger needle than US2 to have slightly less dense fabric. This isn’t bad but I’m afraid after washing it will tighten up and be a bit stiff.

Knit to 80 sts, though looking back, looks like I missed two increases.

I started out with paired decreases as others have done. A little ways into it, I switched to follow the pattern. Following the pattern’s direction actually looks a tad better, but the difference is very slight.

Square ended up just over 8”. Perfect size! I’m not in love with the YO edging, though. I think I’ll skip that in my next one. Also will move up to a US2.5 to see how that goes.

Tropical Punch
Knit to 85 sts with a US2.5. Because of the size 20 thread, I’m getting the same gauge as with the previous cloth, but this one is a little thinner, which I quite like.

Yellow
US2.5 to 85. Actually ran out of yellow with seven rounds to go so subbed in some embroidery floss. Why do I always run out of yarn?

Black and Cream
US3 to 75 sts.
Gauge is 6.5 sts per inch.

At this point, I’m not even close to following the pattern. Basically, I’m doing a YO one stitch from the end on each row, then on the decreasing doing a k2tog-L with one buffer stitch at the end of the row. No lace border but also the slant of the stitches blends in best. I like doing the increases and decreases at the end of the row as it is easier to notice and fix it if I miss one.

Reopening the project as I want to make more.

Peach and Cream
Cream started out at 403.5g -> 383.5g
With US3. Knitted CO 2 sts. R1: K1, YO, K1. Inc R: K1, ktbl, k to 1 st from end, YO, K1. Repeat to 77sts. Dec R: K to 3 st from end, k2tog-L, k1. Repeat until there are 4 st remaining. BO in pattern.

Peach and Black
Black at 63.9g -> 46.2g
Peach at 65.8g -> 47.5g

Red and Black
Black = 46.2g -> 28.7g (really just the cardboard now)
Red = 31.7g -> 14.1g

Orange and Cream
Cream at 383.5g -> 378.8g
Orange at 68.5g -> 64.2g
CO 30. Knit for 4.25”. Kfb around. K1, sl1wyf around. Sl1, k1 around. S1, k1 around with two yo, k2tog in center of first half of sts. K1, sl1 around until pocket of desired height is made. Kitchener closed. Turn inside out. Lace in pull string. Stuff in a bar of Irish Spring.

And closing again while I go work on other things. I’m sure I’ll have the urge to make more dishtowels. They are freaking awesome.

Reopening this project to make a few more of these for a Christmas present.

Blues
US3 to 80 sts.
All three weight 120g total but somehow all my previous weights got messed up in this project so now I have no clue how accurate everything is. Grrr.

After lots of weighing and math, I think I have the yardage all fixed. Whee!
