I have decided to cast on for this as a break from my intarsia socks. The socks are going so slowly and there are so many tangles, I’m looking forward to working on something that takes mental attention, not physical (and constant) untangling.

I’ve started on my third leg. I wasn’t sure which way I was supposed to attach the suckers (the pictures made it seem like knit side out but it left them kind of flapping). After some trial and error, I think that the suckers look best if I aim to flip them up (purl side out).

About to start the gills. This pattern is super cool EXCEPT that it never specifies slip knit- or purl-wise which really makes a difference! My understanding was that, when not specified, the default is purl-wise, but that’ll mess all sorts of things up. The one frustrating thing about this otherwise amazing pattern.

I’m to the bit where I need to close up the mantle so I’ve had to take a break while I wait on the eyes I ordered.

The eyes (12mm cat eyes from 6060 on Etsy) came in a few days ago, but I’ve been knitting socks. I also gave the octopus a bath since my knitting is messy and I won’t be able to block him when he’s done. But now my socks are done, the octopus is dry, the eyes are in, and now I’m ready to keep going!
