Socks! This is my first time using a bamboo blend sock yarn. Very exciting!

My mind was very distractible today so I had some issues remembering how to cast on for the short row toe but not using the crocheted provisional CO. So I’m writing it down:
Figure 8 CO onto DPN and 9” circ, 64 sts. Used DPNs to immediately work short row toe (using FLK heel). At end of toe pattern, knit cable sts to DPNs then started the chart, knitting on to circ.

Took me a few goes, but I’ve finally memorized the pattern. I’m not great at that sort of stuff so the fact that I could do it speaks to the relative ease of this pattern.

I’ve replaced the YOs with left- and right-lifted increases. The resulting holes just looked too much to me like stretched stitches at a cable cross, so yeah, I changed it. I like this a lot better.

So the combination of this yarn, travel stress and eliminating the YOs? Not the best plan. My gauge ended up tighter than normal on the leg of one sock (the one I worked on a 12-hour car trip), this yarn has no give, and I made the socks less flexible by replacing the YOs with a different increase. These are the toughest socks to pull on. However, once they are on, they are really comfy so I’m sticking with them. Mark this down as a learning experience!
