Notes

I used this same pattern and yarn (but in a different colorway) to make my first socks for my husband. So I’m going to make myself some matching ones!

CO 12 per needle
Inc to 64 sts
K 5 rnds plain to extend toe box
Start pattern: k1, p2, (k2, p2) across top, k1, k across bottom

2 grueling days, 5 dealerships and at least a dozen test drives and the first sock is done! Now to finish the leg of the second one. Woot!

And done! So lovely! These are fantastic! I almost don’t want to wait to block them but I know the yarn will soften when I do.

Note to self:

  • Next time, try CO 10 sts per needle. My toes are a hair pointier than this sock toe.

  • If my foot is completely flexed, I can feel a little tightness across the front of my foot, though nothing problematic. So for the FLK heel, I would not need any sort of gusset on a looser (e.g. lace) sock, but would with a less flexible (e.g. slipped stitches) fabric. I might need one with plain stockinette depending on how tight of a gauge I used (thus making the material a little less flexible). Refer to this post.

  • I get a much shorter row height with my HiyaHiyas than I do with my laminate wood DPNs. Oddly, sts/in is exactly the same.

  • Emmett is a remarkably good knitting kitty, especially for technically still being a kitten.

  • I don’t like car shopping.

  • I think I had a little more than 100g for this skein (but I have forgotten by how much) so the amount used reflects how much I have left (15g), not necessarily how much yarn used.
