CO 20, 5 rounds increasing every round, 7 increases paced every other round. Mark first round after the last non-increase round.

I have discovered I much prefer the look of increases done with the increases tilted in, i.e. a left increase then a right increase, compared to the increases tilted out, which was how I was taught to do toe increases.

Increased above the ankle on marked round; k16, m1R, k2, m1L, k16. Added a few more increases spaced up the leg.

Tried it on and the leg fits great! Yay! So afterthought heel and second sock!

Found the linked pattern just in time for the afterthought heels. Love the gusset idea so I’m going to give it a whirl.

So the heel gusset is a little funny with self-striping yarn (or at least this self-striping yarn) but the heel feels great. Knit to 28 sts remaining and grafted in place of R2.
