Swatching. So boring. But it needs to be done!

It seems that my unintentional knitting theme for 2015 is running out of yarn. It seems like a stupid plan to start a project when I know I won’t have enough yarn, yet here I am. I’m hoping I an eek three-quarter length sleeves out of what I have but at the very least I should end up with a short sleeve top for spring.

Gauge: US3 = 6.5 sts/in and 10 rows/in

Measurements I'm Aiming For: Back of neck = 7.25" Raglan length = 8.5" Sleeve circumference = 13.25" Chest circumference = 33"

OMG, the math. But I think I’ve got it. Here goes nothing.

CO 78 = 1|14|48|14|1
Every other RS row = 10 increases; other RS rows = 8 increases
Separate sleeves at 78 sts. CO 6 sts for underarms on body side, 8 sts for underarms on sleeve side.
Total front sts should be 110 so 55 on each side. When each side has 50, CO remaining 10 sts and join in round.

One sleeve left! I tried to do a picot hem on the bottom but it was just too bulky looking for the lace weight yarn. So I frogged it and did a 1/1 rib in US2 and a kitchener bind off.

Neckline = in US2 pick up stitches around, knit one round, sl st p1 around, then 1/1 rib for 6 rounds, 8 rounds of stockinette, knitted bind off.

Arms = pick up 8 stitches across underarm, knit around for 31 rounds, switch to US2 and knit one round, sl st p1 around, then 1/1 rib for 6 rounds, 8 rounds of stockinette, knitted bind off.

Even though the two skeins are the same dye lot, there is a slight color difference where I joined on for the sleeves. I shall see if I can mitigate that a bit. Somehow.
