I ran out of the red yarn, so I changed the second row of the border to a (sc, ch 3, sk 2) around.

My inner squares were too short and too small, so I made 14 rows instead of 12 and used a larger hook.

It is best to keep track of the number of stitches on each side of all the squares. I did 24 between the corner-3 stitches on the top and bottom, and 19 on the sides. (totals are not included on the pattern)

The title seems inaccurate as well. It is actually a quadruple thick hot pad!
