I’ve started this blanket to join in with Sandra at Cherry Hearts blanket-along. When I hold crochet workshops I teach the beginners 3 round granny squares and this started off as just my demonstration piece. I’ve gone a bit mad and used pretty much every colour of acrylic yarn I have in my stash ( 54 colours all together, hence the name…) It’s going to look either amazing or like a dog’s dinner!

After making all the middles and then doing all the round 2’s I’m now joining all my little squares together on the 3rd round, using the join-as-u-go method. It’s such fun playing with the colours and I’m really glad I’ve used so many! I’m loving my blanket now and think it’s going to be amazing - a very lovely dog’s dinner :o) !!!

Still working away on this blanket and enjoying it very much. Have decided to go bigger than I originally thought so it will fit on my bed better. This means I need to make another 111 squares (after I’ve done the first lot). I’m beginning to think about the border as well which I think will be one colour and about 3 - 4” wide. But what colour will it be???……

So I decided to use Stylecraft Special dk in Plum for the border. I’ve gone around the edge with UK htr working out of the third loop so as to push the 2 front loops forward, 4 rounds like this. Then I have finished off with a round of block edging that I found on craftsy: http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/08/5-crochet-edges-you-s...

I love this blanket so much and am so glad I made it! Thanks to Sandra for hosting the blanket along xx
