Mt first knit for John……..the wool-phobe. I hunted high and low to find a yarn that I was sure he wouldn’t find itchy (well, hoped rather than sure!). Araucania Puelo 100% Llama seemed a good choice especially since he loved the variegated colour. And, thankfully, he does love it and it isn’t irritating his sensitive skin.

I used 6mm circulars and dpn as they were what I had to hand. First attempt turned out too big so I played around and settled on 70 stitches cast on with the yarn knit double thickness. This made the hat much more cosy and gave the chunky look I wanted. I also knit until 7” tall before decreasing (rather than 5.5”) as John wanted his ears well covered.

Lovely knit for a relative beginner like me, and quick and simple enough that I could feel confident in playing around with sizes etc. Very happy
