It’s laborious, but compelling. I’m so tempted to work the neck, but Must Wait until I’ve finished! The colours make me happy, but I’m sure I’ll feel conspicuous
wearing it! Marelle says no-one will look at me, just the colours, so maybe that’s ok.
19th March 2014 Happy (would have been) Birthday Grandma!! I miss you still, after 20+ years.
I am having the best time with this jumper. I’m not 100% sure about the pearl shoulders though… but they’re there and that’s that! My Make One Right/Left’s are improving. Especially since I actually read how to do them.
I’ll post a pic soon.

I have decided to use Sarah Ronchetti’s Annalisa as the base for Alice’s Thoroughbred, Fair Isle.
It’s a top down jumper and so far so good. I have done a provisional cast-on, and will work the corrugated rib later on. I’m keeping the 2P false seams, doing them in whatever background colour the row has. My brain is a bit sore, but I can’t wait to get right into it!

OK, here’s my sample piece, which is so much fun to do, I’m looking haggard and old on account of the time and concentration in pushing myself at it, when really I ought to take a nap!
I had thought I’d find the perfect thing, then buy wool especially… but now, I’m thinking to just go for it with what I have and add or subtract as I see fit! I’ve changed the stripes each time, ostensibly to discover my chosen colour scheme, but I like the brighter then duller ebb and flow. So that’s what I’m gonna do.
And old or not, I’m wearing it!

Right, well.. I’m doing a pair of cuffs, to sample colours (I DIDN’T). Love this pattern long time! But not in the original colours, which I love, incidently, but they make me look all hepatitis-ish and “Ick, is that catchy”?
I have a cross-stitch program and punched the whole thing in, then saved a new copy and changed the colours. Great idea, but try matching it to your wool, or even to the print-out! Noooo.
So, stash on the floor (and me naked and rolling about), (not really), I picked a ‘maybe-right’ lot and set to.
So far, I’m sure I like it but would I wear it???? Hmmm. 56 years old this June? Mebbe, mebbe not.
In fact, no, I wouldn’t. But mitts? Yes. (SEE, I LIED AGAIN. I’M WEARING IT).
What I want to do, really, is sit on the floor at the Australian Tapestry Workshop in South Melbourne, and play with their wool.
