Bought the yarn in a kit at Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival 2016 from Neighborhood Yarn Co. I’m hoping there is enough contrast between the two turquoise colours. The woman in the booth assured me that it will be fine.
A: Ward Circle (light turquoise)
B: Old Towne East (darker turquoise)
C: Mondawmin (pink)

Had to go down in needle size to get a nice fabric.

Update: realized the pattern calls for fingering weight but the yarn in the kit is lace weight…. why would they do that? Sell a kit with the wrong weight yarn… head smack. No wonder I wasn’t getting gauge & had to go down so much in needle sizes.

Ribbing:
changed to K1 thru the back loop, P1 … this tightened the stitches up nicely.

Band 1:
worked as directed.

Band 2:
As I feared…. the turquoise colours are too similar & the stripes in this section do not show well… looks like a variegated mess with no difference between the 2row stripes. Next time I choose my own colours rather than relying on a kit. Ripped out entire band 2 section. Knitting another 32 rows of band 1 instead… so there are visible stripes.

Band 3:
Pattern is not very visible & I’m really tired of stocking knit. Changed this section to seed stitch:
Round 1: k1, p1, around
Round 2: p1, k1 around
Repeat rounds 1&2 for entire section

Band 4:
Lace section done as directed

Band 5:
Will use colour c as the accent because colours A&B are too similar & the striping will not show.

Ribbing:
changed to K1 thru the back loop, P1 … to match the beginning ribbing.
