This pattern was gifted to me on Christmas 2012 from my lovely mother. I’m planning on doing most of this in masala, but I’m going to stripe in some coast grey to help show the unique construction of this shawl.

Instead of the backward loop cast-on, I used the cable cast-on for the new sections each time.

01.05.2013 - I am about to start the block of grey, I think. I’m hoping that the color contrast will help to highlight the row progression, as that’s what’s so different about this pattern.

01.06.2013 - It’s clear to me that this scarf will need some savage blocking, but I’m not worried. I love the grey/masala combo also.

01.15.2013 - I’m knitting with masala again. The block of coast grey was worked in pattern for rows 171-230 and I’m happy with the shaping. Now I just need to finish this thing!

01.17.2013 - Still chugging along… On row 241 currently…

01.21.2013 - Finished the knitting, wove in the ends, and now it’s on the blocking mats drying… slowly.
