Notes

I am extraordinarily pleased with this shawl. It’s the largest lace project I’ve done yet and it’s gorgeous.

The hand-painted colors of this cotton lace weight yarn really pop out in this pattern when you get close, but from several yards away, the shawl looks pinkish reddish.

I’m surprised because the actual yardage I used ended up being only a little less than the one stated in the pattern. I used 1630 yards and the pattern says 1700 yards. I used the same size needle as specified in the pattern, also, although I used a finer weight yarn--I used laceweight while the pattern calls for sport weight. I blocked the shawl to the same dimensions printed in the book.

I’m hoping that since I knit this in cotton yarn, it will ensure the shawl is not too warm for spring or early fall months. I live in California, so it never gets too cold during those seasons, and I wanted to be able to wear this shawl for as many months out of the year as I could. I can’t wait for the weather to get cooler!
