Notes

I just purchased the book “Knitting with Icelandic Wool” by Védís Jónsdóttir. I love all the patterns in this book and can’t wait to knit them all… but I decided to start with Riddari. This will be my third Icelandic lopi sweater.

I decided to do traditional ribbed cuffs and edgings rather than rolled edges. Worked 5cm 1x1 ribbing in main colour and smaller needles. Switched to larger needles and knit one round.

Feb 5 I’m getting a gauge of 17.5 sts to 10cm rather than 18sts which would make the sweater 96cm/38.4” in circumference= size medium instead of small. Although this would still work, I’m debating whether or not to go down a tiny bit in needle size.

Feb 6 I decided to stay with the 4.5mm needles rather than risk the sweater being too small.

Feb 9 Knit until body measures 43cm in length.

Mar 2 Sleeve- Worked 1x1 rib for 5cm. Switched to larger needles and knit 1 round before starting chart. For increases, used m1L at beginning of round and m1R at end of round. Sleeve=50cm

April10 Worked collar in 1x1 ribbing. Sweater completed! Just need to graft armpits, weave ends and block it.

April 12 So glad I didn’t go down in needle size. It turned out to fit perfectly.
