Although Tonka is now 10, I think she should were this till her college years.
I’ve made a mistake in the cast on count and going for the youth size, I casted on 319 instead of 308. It worked fine size-wise, but made a visible seam-like error in the pattern (odd number of stitches - duh).
For the decreases, I then decreased 10-times evenly, instead of 11-times, to make the capelet slightly longer.
I decreased until there were 80 sts left to fit the 10 year-old, but it could easily have been 88 stitches, it would still fit OK.
The gauge on the color work was a bit tighter - 24-26 stitches to 10 cm on the larger needles, the stockinette gauge on the 1 color piece was more like 22-23 stitches.
The cotton merino is great for kids, I think. It’s soft, pleasant, nice stitch definition. I like it especially with the texture of the stranded color work, when the yarn doubles in the back. It’s a bit splitty, but not as much as the pure cotton ones.

This item again worn by younger daughters. They take turns wearing it and sometimes wear even like a skirt!
