Notes

My daughter wanted a puppy rattle for my grandson Jamie, but the pattern picture she sent me was crochet, so I’ve used the head and modified ears from the Muffin The Puppy pattern and attached them to a maple teething ring.

I made the muzzle a bit bigger by doing an additional increase so that there were two stitches more in width and 4 rows more in length.

Ears - two ears knit in the round as one - next time I would cast on 6 stitches for each (12 total each ear) instead of 7 (14) as they could be a bit slimmer.

Nose and Eye Patch:
~Cast on 4 sts,
~Kfb into every stitch (8 sts) - you could do this in the round but I find it really difficult and unecessary
~join in the round and purl one round,
~next round: kfb, K1 around (12 sts)
~bind off purlwise.
Pull into a more oval than circular shape and stitch to puppy face/muzzle.

Knit ring cover - cast on 8 sts, knit 40 rows of garter stitch, cast off and sew around the teething ring.

I used a 1.5” plastic cat bell ball for the rattle sound.
