Notes

Love this pattern - it’s very easy to adapt to basically any costume. Joseph, being still Olaf crazy, is getting an Olaf costumed kid, Jacob gets the Shark-a-Jake and little Jamie, who loves puppies, gets the dog boy.

Both Olaf and the dog were created by making an additional piece for the crown of the head. I did this by using the instructions for the head, and in the case of the dog working them up through round 6 and then stitching to the head, stuffing and adding eyes and ears (ears from this pattern). For Olaf I believe I only increased to row 5 but added a few non-increase rows in here and there to make it taller and narrower. Olaf’s nose is a variation on the shark tail - I didn’t keep exact track of what I did, but it’s supposed to be irregular looking so making it up as you go along works pretty well. I did change the shape of both Olaf and the dog’s hoodie jaws and I didn’t take notes of what I did, unfortunately. Olaf ended up with wiggle eyes on felt, all hot glued down as I wasn’t coming up with crocheted eyes that made me happy.

The dog’s tail is based on the arm pattern, keeping stitches continuous throughout (at 12 sts), not decreasing. Also instead of single crocheting the center stitch of the round I slip stitched it to get the overall piece to curve upward. The last row I did dc2, hdc2, sc1, slpstitch1, sc1, hdc2, dc3 so that it would have a nice angle to meet the body for sewing on.
