Notes

Test knitting some baby booties for a sweet Ravelry friend. I jumped at the chance to make these for my niece/nephew to be - I couldn’t resist ‘Suspension Bridge Booties’ as my brother and SIL are both structural engineers and are keeping us all in suspense as to the gender of the baby! So I’ve made these to work for a boy or a girl without being too gender neutral ~ this is just one pair of booties, dressed up in two different ways.

I think it would be really fun to gift three (or so) pairs of these in different sizes/colors to an expectant or new parent with a variety of ties and decorative attachments to mix and match.

Thanks MaryJane for letting me test!

What I ♥ about this pattern:

♥ very fast - a pair can easily be made in a day
♥ gender neutral
♥ the tie keeps the bootie on
♥ super versatile, these can be made up in so many styles and themes just by changing the tie and/or adding decorative touches
♥ instructions are very clear and easy to follow with several photos
♥ so cute!

Booties knit with Knit Picks Stroll Sport

baby girl bootie:
~ knit i-cord on 2 stitches (instead of 3) to 18” w/ DK Twist ‘Doe Eyes’
~ I added a 5 petal crochet flower with DK Twist ‘Tracery’, with a buttonhole loop at the back of the flower to slide on and off of the tie.

baby boy bootie:
~ 3 stitch i-cord holding the two Patons fingering yarns together. Knit to 14”, tying knots at the very ends and tying the bootie closed with a knot instead of a bow.

These did not take me 6 days to make - rather, I was being picky about the yarn I wanted to use and started over several times until I was satisfied :0)
