Notes

-- resizing: my hands are 8.5” around the largest part of the palm. i just went up one needle size and they turned out perfectly. the fabric is still lovely and warm.

-- for the “lining”: i knit a full lining using laceweight alpaca. i did a provisional cast on, knit the mitten as written (starting after the “lining” in the pattern) and then picked up stitches from the provisional cast on to knit the lining. just measure the mitten shell and knit a plain mitten using those dimensions. i used the same thumb gusset and finger decreases as written in the pattern. my measurements: 1.5” then begin thumb gusset; finish gusset and put stitches on hold. knit hand to 7.5” total and then begin finger decreases as charted; kitchener when 16st remain. pick up for thumb as written in pattern. knit 1.75” then do decreases as written.

-- another small modification: there are 12st left on the mitten shell after the finger decreases. i decided to kitchener them to leave a little extra room inside.

-- i held the CC dominant.

-- there was plenty of all the yarns leftover.
