Notes

First hat experiment prior to doing the double version.

I will try the next one with a smaller size needle and more stitches, as the Cascade 220 superwash is rather thin for worsted-weight yarn.

  • black yarn (deer) is dominant, so holding in left hand.

  • provisional cast-on of 96.

  • chart is here

  • added snowflakes, as there are a lot of long floats in some rows

  • combination of the Basic Lined Hat and Jared Flood’s Turn a Square (for the crown decreases).

  • switch to 4 mm needles for the crown stripes.

  • tried this on the recipient and decided to do a few (5) rows of 2 x 2 ribbing on smaller 4.0 mm needle at the brim.

  • added giant pompon upon request.
