Notes

Staying-at-home Covid-19 knitting project. It’s better to stress about knitting than about the virus.

This pattern has been on my radar for a while. Plus - the birds are starting to wake me up at 5:30 a.m. and I see them flitting around outside my office window - what could be more perfect?

Cast on 120 with long-tail cast on size 3.0 mm needles. Purled 1 row then started corrugated rib. After increase row (178) and next 2 rows cast on 7 steek stitches. No icord to start. If I think it needs it, I’ll add it at the end.

  • after the chart ended up with 314 plus steek (lost a couple of stitches). Last increase knit 7 then m1, for a total of 358 plus steek.
  • split sleeves - put 66 on hold for each sleeve, 110 for back and 116 for front + steek. Cast on 14 for underarm. Body stitches = 254 plus steek. Every inch increase 4 at underarms 4 times. 270 stitches plus steek.

Running out of yarn! My own fault - apparently I can’t read. Did a lengthy 2-colour corrugated rib hem, and 3/4 sleeves.

Sleeves - 111 grams to start. 66 st. Pick up 14 plus 2 extra each side. Decrease 7/8 each side next 2 rows. 80 st. Start counting rows. Every 12 decrease 2 until 66 then 2 more at row 10. 64 stitches. 8 rows corrugated rib then 2 knit rows and b/o. 40 grams per sleeve.
Button bands - 58 grams to start. Pick up 3 of 4 using 2.75 mm needle. MC. 154 stitches total (9 at top band and 24 and hem). 50 grams left after buttonband 1.

Thoughts?
Hide the floats or knit with the specks? Decided to knit the specks. Did the ladder-back technique for the long floats (see pic).

ADD POCKETS! Crap - out of yarn, so no pockets.

Actual gauge - 26 st/4 inches in plain section, 28 st/4 inches in stranded.

Picked the burgundy red MC with the Button Jar Blue CC.

Number crunching
Start is 140 st after the icord, 108 Canyon Rd, 112 Zweig. Cast on fewer.

S and XS the same until the last increase where 360 or 396. Do S.

Sleeve extension

After joining new yarn 55 rows later decrease every 8 th stitch. 56 stitches for ribbing. Same 3 mm needle.

12-06-2020

16 rows rib then bond off.
