Notes

needs toggles

My granddaughter wanted a fox hoodie sweater with the orange fox head, but she picked the gray yarn for the body. Will incorporate the orange, black and white from the hood into the body.

I bought the Failynn Fox Cowl, then looked for a sweater pattern, and found the Bear. Could have just converted the bear ears, but now I have both patterns, so I’m using the child version of the Failynn Fox ears. Eventually I will make a separate fox cowl for my daughter with that pattern.

I hate to use acrylic, but this will be washed and dried in the machine (plus it is 20% wool, at least!)

7/8 (sweater 27.50 inch chest circumference)
9/10 (sweater 29.75 inch chest circumference)

She normally wears a 6X or 7, but this seems small for an over-sweater, so make 9/10.

Mods:

  • did M1R and M1L instead of kfb for increases.
  • added 2 stitches at underarm
  • added a couple of inches to the length
  • decided on toggles, instead of button and buttonholes, as that makes this sweater more adaptable size-wise and will hopefully last for 2-3 years.
  • picked up 4 at underarm for sleeve, and decreased more slowly
  • did the added thumb holes - these were a bit hit!
  • for the Failynn Fox ears, I crocheted 3 sc’s in the top stitch, as others had suggested, to make them pointier
  • did 12-stitch crochet chain for loops.

Sleeves - start with 28:
8th row sleeve decrease - 26.
6th row after - 24
6th row twice to 20.
13th row - 18
4th after that - 16.
4 rows cuff, 2 rows thumb hole, 5 rows then bind off.
