Experimenting. No idea of gender yet, so may stick to navy, white and green.

• Doubleknitting with green and white not a success. Not enough contrast. Also, for Los Angeles, this would be a pretty warm blanket being doubleknit.
• Fair isle with navy and white is excellent.

Cast on 145 stitches for seed stitch border. Using the monkey chart from Sleepy Monkey blanket. 10 stitches between each 17-stitch monkey pattern repeat. The original Sleepy Monkey blanket pattern had 4 layers of yarn, with 2 fair isle sides joined together at the border. Waaaaaay too hot.

Finished the monkeys for one side, and on to the mindless stripes. 6 rows green and then 4 of alternating navy or white, then 6 green. Carrying the green up the side.
- 136 rows of stripes.

I am ridiculously delighted with how this is turning out.

Alter the chart to add a surprised monkey, sad monkey, winking monkey, and pirate monkey. The winking monkey looks like a monkey with a black eye, however.
