note to self - this is great yarn for a baby blanket, but this one is huge - 32 x 40, so cast on fewer stitches to make a smaller version next time.

Elephant pattern is 40, 44 or 48 stitches. I’m going to use the 44 stitch version for 3 repeats, plus a seed stitch border of 6 stitches on each side, and 1 stitch on each side of the pattern repeats.

Cast on 147. 8 rows seed stitch, then maintain 6 stitches in grey seed stitch up the sides, while adding in stockinette in the middle.
-2 rows white, then the 25 rows of pattern, then 2 rows white.

• The pattern was a combination of stranded knitting, for the first 13 rows, then intarsia, when I got to the big elephant bodies, then back to stranded at the top.
• Chain-stitched the big elephant ear, and duplicate-stitched the big elephant eye, as that was much easier vs. stranded or intarsia for those bits.
• Stripes are 8 rows light gray, 6 rows white (I meant to do 4 rows white but forgot, so 6 it is!)
• 176 rows stripes, ending with the light gray (13 gray stripes). Total blanket is 250 rows high. Total weight 408 grams.

Row gauge is 25 rows to 4 inches.

I was going to do 8 light gray, 4 white, 2 dark gray, 4 white, 8 light gray, but the recipient said light gray, so I’ll save the dark for just the elephants. I’m sure it would have looked awesome the other way. Next time!
