Magnolia is in my riding club. She was still riding last week, at 7 months pregnant, but planning to stop now (thankfully - we are worried). The name of this project is a riff on a line from Pulp Fiction, when Bruce Willis’ character keeps repeating: “It’s a chopper, Baby.”
April 15 - started a striped blanket with an intarsia group of motorcycles. Change in plans. The intarsia was looking icky, with too many ends (bottom picture), and this yarn is too slippery and splitty to make weaving in very effective. So - I decided to make a doubleknit “picture” of the motorcycle for the blanket center, and planning on picking up around the center log-cabin style. Actually, it’s more of a “courthouse steps” style - a log-cabin variation.
Given the thickness of the doubleknit center, I will probably use ribbing and/or seed stitch for the rest of the blanket. I’m doing garter on the sides.
I am learning a lot from this project. For example, 16 rows of rib = 20 rows of seed stitch.
I want to take a new picture every time I add a new set of colour bars! Even from the wrong side, this doesn’t look so bad.
Finished size is approx. 28 inches x 36 inches. I think this looks good. Now if the ends will just stay woven and knotted in after repeated washings….
Notes from Intarsia Attempt:
April 4 - cast on. Using 4.5 mm instead of 5 mm as I’ve used in the past with Comfort, to see if I like this yarn better with this size needles. This blanket is loosely based on the Ducks in a Row blanket.

Using seed stitch for 8 rows at the top and bottom borders, and 5 stitches each side.
