Wow - this goes so fast! Cute details on shoulders, sleeves, and a sweet little back dip. This is such a versatile sweater - add pockets, make longer sleeves, add lace to the hem - the possibilities are endless! Great for spring and fall, and I’ll wear mine all winter as well.
I’m so excited to be able to use some of my SAFF buttons, as only 4 are required for this beauty. Using all 5.
Follow-up - I wear this all the time, but have decided after seeing other FOs that I would prefer longer sleeves. I have 40 g left including my swatch, so I’ll knit the lace longer. Did 3 more repeats, then went down a needle size to 5mm and did 3 more repeats then down a needle size to 4.5 mm then 4 rows ribbing.
Notes/mods:
- finished front increases 4 rows early, so not quite as low.
- 5 buttonholes (instead of 4)
- pockets - see below
- added an inch to the length
- twisted ribbing at the bottom hem. Regular ribbing for fronts and neck band and sleeves
- 67 stitches picked up for front bands
- not a mod but a boo-boo - forgot to do the last bottom shaping repeat. 14 rows, not 10!
Pockets:
- 14 stitches wide plus 4 stitches edging and 30 rows long. Started 7.5 inches from underarm - should have started an inch lower and ended at the ribbing.
Gauge: 16 x 22 = 4 inches.
Swatching:
#1 Plucky Rustic on 5.0 mm needles: 13.5 stitches = 4 inches unblocked. Too big.
#2 Madelinetosh Vintage on 5.0 mm needles: unblocked swatch = 3 5/8 x 3 1/2. After blocking: 3 7/8 x 3 3/4 = 4 inches.
#3 Madelinetosh Vintage: size 5.5 mm needles - got stitch gauge almost, and will adjust for row gauge.
These are short skeins, so 190 yards each. Total yarn used was 950 yards.
