This is a comprehensive and well-written pattern. It is crucial to read it carefully and highlight all the numbers that pertain to your size. Also, bear in mind there are both a skp and a sk2p in the lace pattern (don’t ask me how I learned that painful lesson).
My gauge with DK Twist on 4 mm is about 20 st/4 inches, on 4.5 mm is 18 st/4 inches. Pattern gauge here is 22 st/4 inches, so I’m going to knit the size 4 for a larger result - aiming for a size 5.
Using 4.0 mm as my main needle. 3 other sizes are required (marked XS, L and XL in the pattern). The smaller size is used for neckband, hem and cuff, and the larger needles are used to increase the size of the lace at the yoke.
Mods:
- do M1R, k1, slip marker, k1, M1L for yoke increases
- keep buttonbands at 5 stitches
- added 1 lace pattern to the hem
- smaller needle for hem - 6 rows garter then BO with main needle.
- no ribbing at top of sleeve
- no belled sleeves - knit them straight, decreasing 2 st. after 4 inches, then every 2 inches to get the pattern stitch count of 38, with a garter cuff.
- 5 garter ridges at the sleeve cuff, so I can turn it over for now, and let it down when she grows.
Had to start the 3rd skein on row 7 of the second sleeve. 81 grams left of skein 3 (original was 119 - an overweight skein - I didn’t think to weigh the others).
Pattern Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on 3.5 mm needles.
