I think the Cascade 220 superwash is thinner than regular Cascade 220, so use 4 mm needle and go up to 4.5 for stranded section.

First USC hat (elephants) - 90 stitches. This hat - 96 stitches.

• knit 5 rows after purl start then k3 alternating CC and MC, then reverse, then as row 1 again. 4 more rows, then chart (12 rows, vs. 13 in pattern).

I inadvertantly switched to a small circular with 3.75 mm tips, instead of the 4.0 mm I thought were attached for the main stranded pattern and the crown.
