Knitting this in DK based on the top-down DK version of Strange Brew, using some of the charts from the Little Bandit raccoon sweater (which is in fingering). I didn’t like the raccoon chart from the Little Bandit sweater as there were a number of rows with 3 colours, even using white as the background, so I found this raccoon chart I prefer - only 2 colours at a time.

• Finished chest for 8-10 years is 30.5 inches. Women’s XS is also 30.5 inches. Making the Women’s XS which has another inch of yoke depth.
• use 4 mm needles for stranded colourwork in yoke, and drop down to 3.75 for body.
• 3.5 mm for ribbing at neck and sleeves. 3.75 mm (body needle) for hem. Gauge on 4 mm stockinette is 19 stitches per 4 inches. 22 unblocked.

Notes:
Cast on is supposed to be 96. If that ends up too wide, I will do an applied icord on the top. Neck is too wide as written for my taste.
after first increase 144 stitches. 8 rounds
after 2nd increase, 192 stitches. 12 rounds. Flower pattern 4 stitch repeat.
after 3rd increase, 240 stitches. 20 rounds. Raccoon pattern 16 rows, plus some on top and bottom. Use jacquard technique.
after 4th increase 244 stitches
then short rows.

Sleeves
49 on hold
Pick up 12 and decrease 2 in the gaps. 59.
End up with 41.

After 40 rows start decreases. Every 7th row until 49 stitches then every 6th row. 2 rows after 41 then start colourwork still using 3.75 mm needle. Decrease to 40 on first row. After black stripe do 2 rows M.C. then rib 3.5 mm for 18 rows.
