Notes

I’ve been stalking the Caitlin Hunter patterns for a while and decided on Zweig as my first, as I kept coming back to that, although I’m jonesing to knit another one of her multi-coloured yoke sweater already.

Mods

  • smaller needles 3.5 mm
  • neckline - many of the project pages say it is too tight, and many add rows to make it tighter. Which is correct? Thought of a provisional cast-on but I’m too lazy, so I cast on for size L with body-needle (3.5 mm).
  • 2 more short rows to drop the neck in the front. Next time I would do more - it’s a little annoying across the front of my neck, where it is higher than I like (I am a delicate flower when it comes to things against the front of my neck)
  • a cardigan appeals but I decided to knit this as a pullover
  • inadvertently added 2 extra rows to the below-yoke colourwork bars. Apparently I can’t count.
  • made it longer
  • sleeves: after ripping out 2 cuffs (corrugated rib on different stitch counts) I ended up knitting the pattern on the same 72 stitches for 18 inches, then keeping the same needle size, knitting corrugated rib (with the pink as the knit stitches) for 8 rows, then 3-stitch icord bind-off. Love these sleeve cuffs this way!

Notes
At start of yoke lace 228, 1 more repeat than M.
At end of yoke lace 266, between m and L. 264 body stitches.

After row 4 start decreases.
Yarn
- I was going to use a tonal light gray/silver for the yoke, until I saw this pink with black specks at the Wooster fiber festival. I love the speckled yarns with soft colours that many others have used. I hope the black speckles don’t distract from the lace. With the pink I picked the black/purple single ply that has been in my stash for ages.

48 grams of Purple Night left and 48 grams of pink left.
